Polyfill tricks the woofer into "seeing" a larger enclosure volume, and when enclosure volume is marginally too small, stuffing an enclosure with polyfill may simulate a slightly larger interior volume and allow the woofer to play a little lower as a result.

This has been a old trick in the bass world. It does work for the lower bass.

Since there is usually always a trade off; by picking up lower tones in the bass does it mean we lose the upper end??

I would assume so but with the mids set right, should compensate.

I was having trouble locating my sub last night when looking around in my truck. I am not sure that I have one I have the 2013 XLT Extended Cab. Anyone able to help me out here?

You have an xlt they do not have one at all.

You probably don't have the Sony sound.
It's a black box under the back seat if you do. Can't miss it
