Where I live in Canada, I lose 65% of my gross income just in taxes. almost 50% off my income then pay 15% sales tax for everything.

No one in Canada pays anywhere near 50% income tax. You're in Nova Scotia right?
Federal tax for 2012
15% on the first $42,707 of taxable income, +
22% on the next $42,707 of taxable income (on the portion of taxable income over $42,707 up to $85,414), +
26% on the next $46,992 of taxable income (on the portion of taxable income over $85,414 up to $132,406), +
29% of taxable income over $132,406.

plus Provincial tax for NS 2012
8.79% on the first $29,590 of taxable income, +
14.95% on the next $29,590, +
16.67% on the next $33,820, +
17.5% on the next $57,000, +
21% on the amount over $150,000

and that's all before the many many deductions we have access to.
Unless you're making at least several hundred thousand per year taxable income in which case boo hoo.

I use premium (91 octane) and it is between $110 and $130 depending on price and how low my tank was. A normal fill up for me is 30-31 U.S. gallons.

Wow, no sense of humour at all do you? Maybe next time, just for you, I'll state that I'm sarcastic before posting something else like this so you get it.
Thanks for the lecture in accounting.
BTW, pretty interesting that someone from Alberta is bitching about taxes, seeing how you pay the least in Canada.

Paying $3.15 a gallon for a winter ethanol blend.

WTI contracts suggest we'll see $3.30-40 soon.

It costs me about 85 big ones to fill up. I started using non-ethanol gas and I think it runs better.
