That feeling..
When you spend 3 hours in -10 degree weather replacing your passenger side temperature actuator and find out it was the driver side actuator making the noise. ****

I feel your pain, I think it was -10* when the blend door cable broke on one of my old cars and left the blend door in the full cold position, that was no fun, I'm hoping you at least have partial heat.

They seem to be the same from 09-14. Trucks with dual zone climate control will have a driver side temp actuator, but single zone trucks will not. If you have one it will be just above the floor at the very bottom of the HVAC box in the center of the dash, this is the only one that's hard to replace, but if you aren't too concerned with cutting corners, there are some short cuts to save several hours, Fordtechmakuloco did a video on these and how to cut the time way down.

Wow, this the new truck? If so I’d complain to the BBB or someone else |
You shouldn't judge this on noise, but on function. There are 4 actuators, I think they can all sound pretty much the same when clicking. Driver temp, Passenger temp, Source (outside/recirc), Inside distribution. You should be able to fiddle a bit and figure out which function is bad.
I managed to do that (passenger), and then managed to buy the wrong part at first (distribution). Genius! |
