Farewell guys, it was a good ride!

And I fully realize what I've done and I'm not proud of joining the ranks of yuppies driving a luxury 1/2 ton crew cab grocery-getters. But I also don't understand the sarcastic remarks to someone who's downsized to something that better fits his needs.

Ha! Man I'll miss y'all too!!
I deploy almost every other year and my wife hated driving an uncatted, lifted truck. With friends like you kind folks, who needs enemies. Although my buddies at work basically said the same thing haha. So far so good, the entertainment piece is 100 times better, love the apple CarPlay, parking in SoCal is easier, deff miss the pep and the twin whistle, though.

Be happy to do Q/A after I burn up some miles. I don't fall into the brand loyalty thing so I can give unbiased opinions. For the cost diff, not sure...I received a pretty damn good deal so the diesel was more by chance than selection. I was running premium with my tune so the day to day fill up difference isn't much.

The diesel option typically retains a substantial of amount of its original cost compared to gas counterparts. Thus the actual net cost of the diesel option is typically negligible if any.

King Hater
These new diesels are so choked down with emissions parts and those systems are so finicky why take the chance of getting one? If they removed the def and regen systems I would be all over a new diesel...

I get that you usually get more out of a diesel during trade in BUT the cost of maintenance, fuel, etc is way more than its gas counterpart.

What extra maintenance, and cost of maintenance way more or substantially prohibitive in diesel ownership compared to gasoline engines?

The dmax is a newer version of the motor I have in my liberty CRD and I can say that after towing a 4500 lb Mastercraft wakeboard boat in NH with that, I would be very hesistant to tow my 5500 lb travel trailer here in the Rockies with the Dmax. Just not enough HP to get up the hills without really slowing down. It will do great on the flats and moderate hills, but over a couple % grade and its gunna be sweating.
Camshafts, intake, down pipe, turbo, emission systems, compression ratio, intercooler volume, all different.
Power:
Liberty 160HP / 295TQ 5spd
Colorado 181HP / 369TQ 6spd
Max boost:
Liberty 26 psi
Colorado 35-40 psi
Max towing:
Liberty 5k lbs
Colorado diesel 6.5k lbs
Wheelbase:
Liberty 104.3"
Colorado 128.3"
For those of us that tow can testify that a longer wheel base vehicle is preferred as it provides a more stable and confident towing experience.
Little more stringent than a couple percent grade aforementioned. 8 mile, 7% grade, towing 6100 lbs up to 11k feet in altitude.
