There are seperate eBay listings for factory trailer brake controllers for the 2009 and 2010 F-150s. Does anyone know the difference between the two? The listings are from the same seller, a Ford dealer, and they list them as not interchangeable but the photos for the listings are the same. They want $80 more for the '09 version but if they are the same I will buy the one listed for the 2010.

 

IIRC from reading a few threads about the trailer brake controllers is that the '09 version has a digital read out on it, whereas the '10 version shows up in the dash when you go through the info button options

 

The brake controller for the 09 is differemt from the 10 Ford had two different part numbers for the respective controllers I just installed one on my 09 and it works as advertised.

 

Yes, the 09 is quite different from the 2010 model, as the others have pointed out, the 09 has the digital read out on the controller, while the 10 model does not (the read out is in the main computer info center). The programming of the 10 model (if added later) is also much different than the 09 (which is pretty much "plug and play").
Interestingly enough, there is quite of few "hidden" differences between the 2009 and 2010, like bigger front brakes, electric fans, different steering ratio, etc, etc.

 

Thanks for the info. I would never have gotten the differences from the photo and when i asked the eBay seller they never replied.
