Default Factory Remote Start for Under $200 = Nice!

I wanted to add factory Ford remote start to my XLT. Dealer wanted about $450 to install and program it. Picked up the single-key kit from Fairway Ford For $128, installed it in less than 30 minutes. My dealer said to just run it through the Express Lane to have it activated an cut the key. They normally charge $79 for the service, but only charged me $50 because of my winning personality and rugged good looks.

Needless to say, I'm extremely happy with the overall cost and it works flawlessly. Just thought I would post up for anyone not aware of how easy this is. Seriously, anyone can install it.

Link to the single-key kit (they also have the 2-key kit for under $200, but I only needed one):

wow, I might be considering this. Remote start wasn't a huge negative when I got my truck but for 200 bucks who could complain. Plus, wife would love to have a warm truck during the winter!

DO NOT turn on the remote start automatic rear window defrost. The front defrost on high and the rear window defrost can and does shatter the rear window on very cold days.
Ford covered mine, other were out of pocket. (1300-1600)

That looks like a good deal. I don't get the key though. I have two keys now. Why do I need any more keys? I didn't see the actual start button. I assume it's a separate fob from the the key?

No separate fob, just an extra button.
With the program turned on you can set the air/heat/rear defrost to turn on or not.
The computer will adjust the fan.
You can set how long the truck runs before it will shut down if you don't put a key in or you can shut it down with the button on the key.
really, really nice to come out to a warm/cool truck.

I almost bought this kit, but before I did I called a couple of the dealers in my area (Corpus Christi) and they each wanted $150.00 to activate and cut the keys... So I guess I'll put this off until I can fins a dealer that can do it for a fair price. Great tip though!

I bought the same kit from them! Easy install! I went to Home Depot and they cut the key for free. They just tell you that they're not responsible if it doesn't cut right or work in the ignition. Programming the key is simple as long as you have both of your original keys. Unfortunately the dealerships around here go by the book and charged me $90 to activate the remote start with the IDS. Works great, but I would recommend the slightly more expensive long range kit. Mine currently has about a 300 foot range.
