Default Factory Remote Start issue

Hey guys, new to the forum so if this is the wrong location for this post I apologize. But I have a 2011 f-150 lariat and for the first 6ish months of owning the truck the remote start worked flawlessly but here recently it has decided to quit. I've search many forums but couldn't find my problem. I'm getting no horn honks or any lights flashing when it fails to start. I've replaced the keyfob battery, pulled the battery cables on the truck hoping for a reset, made sure the poorly made hood sensor was making contact, no check engine light and still nothing. The only thing that happens when I attempt remote start is the driver seat adjusts to the preset location. Hoping for a simple fix without have to pay the $100 diagnostic fee at the local ford stealership. Thanks for any help

Doesn't have to have a check engine light on to get disabled, just having a code stored in memory will knock it out. Hook a scanner to it and see if any codes are there.

Wink

You may also want to check your settings with in the vehicle message center (between your tach. and speedo.). Go into the "Settings" heading and look for "Remote Start". In there you can "Enable/Disable" the system. Maybe something accidently changed?

Didn't see a "enable/disable" option but I did set up the "MyKey" for the first time this morning and remote start worked? Kind of confused on that but it works now so I'm not complaining

Are you positive it is a factory remote start? How do you start the truck with the keyfob? I know a lot of dealerships like to say they are installing OEM starts but have aftermarket companies installing system that work off of the OEM key fob.

The "start" button is on the 4 button key fob (lock, unlock, alarm, start). Lock truck once, start button twice. I assumed it was factory

Huh? I thought there was an Enable/Disable with-in the settings for the Remote start. Shows it in the manual. But I've always used it. So I don't even remember if I've actually turned it off/on, or looked for it. Oh Well...

Just checked in my manual and it shows the same thing but on the truck itself I don't have the "system-enable/disable" feature. So now I question if it is a true OEM remote start feature? Anyway I could check to confirm if it is aftermarket remote start system?

Now that we're talking about it, a little later I'm gonna go out and check mine. In 2010 I ordered my Lariat. And in 2011, the remote start system came as a part of the Lariat PLUS package. That consisted of: 6-disc in-dash CD player (except it was a single CD player with the Nav. system), universal garage door opener, Reverse Sensing system, rear view camera, power folding side view mirrors, and Remote Start system. I don't believe that it was a stand alone item in the Lariat. My remote start is integral with the key, no separate fob. Hope that helps you tell if you have a factory system.

PACKAGES

LARIAT Chrome Package includes 18-in. chrome-clad aluminum wheels; chrome mesh grille insert;6-in. chrome angular running boards; chrome exhaust tip; chrome front tow hooks; power, heated
sideview mirrors with chrome mirror caps; and body-color door handles with chrome straps

LARIAT Plus Package includes 6-disc in-dash CD player, universal garage door opener, ReverseSensing System, rear view camera, power-folding sideview mirrors, and Remote Start System

Max. Trailer Tow Package (restrictions apply) includes Class IV trailer hitch receiver; 7-pin wiring
harness; upgraded radiator; auxiliary transmission oil cooler; trailer brake controller; upgraded

rear bumper; SelectShift AutomaticTM transmission; and chrome-capped manual telescoping/folding trailer tow mirrors with power, heated glass, integrated turn signal indicators and security
approach lamps

Off-Road Package (4x4 only; n/a with 6.2L V8 gas engine) includes 3.73 electronic-locking
rear axle; fuel tank, transfer case and front differential skid plates; off-road tuned front shock
absorbers; and 4x4 Off-Road box decal

Mine has all the mentioned options. Which leads me to believe my remote start is a factory installed option. When you check yours, give a update on the "enable/disable" feature if you don't mind
