Default Factory Remote Start FTW!!!!

-13* today where I'm at....So glad I had remote start installed.

I wanted to post this up for fellow 11-14 STX owners since our trucks didnt come with factory Remote Start.

Dealership installation is required due to programming plus they will cut the keys for you as you wait. Took them 30minutes to get my truck done. You end up with 4 keys, two with the start button and the factory two without.

HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED-

http://accessories.ford.com/remote-s...-kit-9196.html

You can pop your hood and look along the drivers side fender to see if you have the Hood Switch already, 99% of trucks with power door locks have it. Here's a picture for reference----

HOW IT WORKS-

**To Start- You have to hit the "Lock" button once and the "Start" button twice.

**To Shut off- You have to hit the "Start" button and hold for a moment.

The truck will run for 10mintues and then shut itself off. You can restart it 1 more time only after it has ran for 10minutes and shut itself off. So basically you can only run the truck for a total of 20minutes before you have to manually insert the key and crank ignition.

****After starting the truck 2 times in a row via remote the system will no longer remotely start without manually cycling the key in the ignition.

Installed with tax out the door I paid $349. Best $349 I've spent on the truck.

Also if you have the 4" screen in your main drivers gauges, you can also select Remote Start runtime up to 15 minutes! Not sure if you can do this on a STX!

I was told this had to be installed by the dealership as they have to flash the truck? So I can't say for sure what the instructions were like. My local dealership matched that price from the website and the rest I paid was install. So I think it was around $60 in labor not bad IMO considering they cut the keys also.

The stx doesn't have that screen like the raptor does, I just have a basic INFO screen that allows you to turn on and off the function. I wish I could make it 15minutes...that's the only drawback again IMO.

It was important to me to have the Factory key/remote combo I didn't want an extra remote which is why I didn't go aftermarket.
