Factory options you couldnt live without
I am looking to get a 2013 xlt. I had my heart set on a truck 157in with eco 3.55 tailgate step blue jeans with gray bottom. Bad thing is it was traded 4 days ago so now my issue. I can get another one without gray but has talegate 3.55, eco, box steps, bucket seats the thing is its 649 more because it was built 1/25/13 with more options and invoice price went up on 1/1/13. So i was wondering what options are worth it and ones that could live without including axle. I only tow 7k a few times a year and I did that with a 02 durango. LOL
Thanks

3.55 MINIMUM for towing that weight. Mine is 3.55, wish I had 3.73 while towing my own 7500# travel trailer.
Don't skimp on the gear. The EB will pull with the 3.31 or numerically lower, but it does so darn good with the 3.55 or 3.73.
If I had it to do over with again I would have done the Max Tow package, and possibly the Heavy Duty Payload package. But for sure the Max Tow.
Mine didn't have the tailgate step, but I bought an AMP bed step for $100 from a member in here. Mine didn't have a backup camera but I added an aftermarket.

The reverse camera is worth every penny. As others have stated, stay away from the 3.31, it doesn't slow the Eco down any, but it is nice to have the 3.55 or 3.73 for towing. Also avoid an open diff if you've got a boat. I never really had issues with it, as I just used 4x4 when the ramp was slippery. My new truck has these features that I didn't get on the 2011 I had. Even simple things like getting the boat out of the back yard should be trouble free with the elock diff.
Options I don't want? Not big on sunroofs or sliding rear windows. I typically avoid those options, the taller rims reduce tow rating so as much as I like the 20's, I decided against them. I like the centre jump seat, a nice snuggle spot for the missus, and a spare seat when you need, so I avoided the centre console. Hmmm...can't think of much else I wouldn't like to have, if my budget would allow.

My "cant live without" options would have to be 4.11 gears and back up camera w/ sensors. Ive always backed into every parking spot i park in and the peace of mind the sensors and camera give me is worth every penny. As far as the gears go i dont do much towing but the fact that ive just recently put a newer set up on my truck with bigger tires and a lift and lost 0.00 mpg makes me glad i have the 4.11 w/ e-lock rear diff.

4x4 and locking rear diff.

the cant live with out options is a 5.0, better mileage towing and no fall on your face when the inter cooler douches your motor, and 4x4, playing in the mud is fun, and as others have said 3.55 or 3.73. you don't want to loose power when towing.

Screw it. Instead of listing all the options, I'll just say I can't live without the whole damn truck
