i dont know why all of yall say that you cant put one on after the fact right after i bought my 09 i asked the dealership to install one they did for about $75.00 a little pricey but its cheaper than a locksmith when you lock your keys in the car on accident

No this can't be done. Another person who has no idea. Let me guess you are a ford tech? Im sure you are aware that EVERY truck has different DNA (IE calibrations) even if the truck has the exact same options down to the tires the calibrations ID's are different. You can transplant that info into another trucks GEM but you will run into numerous other issues, some that can be seen such as other options that don't work and some you can't as in modules that can't be diagnosed via ids or other ids related issues. I have seen it first hand and have done this, it does not work and dealers will not do it. But hey what do I and Ford tech line know!
To the OP, yes that add on keypad will work just fine. As long as you have key fobs (remote keyless entry) it will work. shoot me a pm with your email and Ill shoot you the pics of the custom door handle I created with the stick on key pad

To each their own. It can be done. Ford tech hotline will not advise you to modify your vehicle in any way. You and the tech working on your truck need to be smart enough to figure it out. But what do I know after nearly 20 years of fixing fords? The hard part, like I stated earlier, is finding someone willing to take the time to modify your programming. The easist and Ford approved route is the stick on keypad. Nothing wrong with it, it works great and over all will be a lot less expensive, since you can do it yourself.

Be sure and let us know if it looks like you can change the battery in it, and which one you bought. I have heard some say you can, and some say you cant. I am all for one of these, but want it to be reliable, and don't want to have to rip it off and replace it every couple years.

I have bought 3 of these key pads. They will work on just about every Ford Product. I installed one on my truck and one on my daughters car. It will not work on a Ford with the push button start. My son just bought a 2012 Focus with push button start and my ford touch system and I tryed to install it on his car..no go. You cannot change the batteries, but they say it should last 5 years. Only time will tell. Hope this helps.

That would have additional advantages: for one, that keypad isn't all that pretty, and it would not invite some kids to tamper with it. You could even come up with a different mounting method in that case which would allow easier removal.

I've had this for almost 2 years now and it's working great. From what I can remember the underneath can be taken apart. There was 3M tape on the bottom, so I assume if there is a screw it would be under there. IMO if there isn't a screw, i'll pry it apart put in a new battery, glue it together and stick it back on. I'm willing to bet it's a little battery like in the remote.
I ordered it from tasca for roughly $80 shipped, if my memory serves me right it may actually have been cheaper.
