Default Factery trailer brake control

Has any one had a problem with trailer brake controler [2011 f150]? It only aplys very feeble braking even when it is set to max power and the brakes are applied using the manual controll lever. I have this problem on 2 different trailers both of which work well behind my other truck. I am going to have the check it next week but I am looking for feedback that might help me to explain the problem to the tech or better yet correct it without going to dealership. thanks Bubbabud 2011 F150 SC XLT Ecoboost

I thought the manual lever was feeble applying teh brakes...and it is. I can feel the brakes working on the trailer and will slowly bring the vehicle to a stop eventually. Basically feeble as you said.

With that said, some jackass almost pulled out infront of me this weekend when I was hauling our 24' TT. Jumped on the brake pedal only and the trailer brakes worked very well. Heard the tires on the verge of locking up. Much more aggressive then it was with the manual application lever.

Yeah, take that in Bubba and have them look at it. I know with mine and my 31' TT, my truck stops the same as without the TT. Not that I practice that but it is nice to have when dealing with a jackass.

On a lighter note, it is funny to see some of the jackasses trying to accelerate and get out of your way once they realized they never should have made the jump. And, 9 times out of 10, there is a cell phone involved....

I did a search a little while back on 2 little pieces, a fuse and a relay I think, that came in a bag that was in my driver door when I bought the truck. They go in the power distribution box that is on top of the radiator. They are supposed to be installed when towing a trailer that requires braking. Not sure if yours are installed, just thought I'd mention it.

My fuse and relay are still in the bag in the glove box and my TBC works great. My understanding is these are for auxiliary charging of the TT battery while towing.

That is correct, the fuze and relay are for the constant power battery charging circuit. The TBC works without them.

Another vote for checking it out. Seems like with gain maxed out and squeezing the lever, that your trailer brakes should be locked and dragging...

HMMMMMM I never tried to stop my truck with just the trailer brakes.
I did have to lay on the brakes pretty hard when some dipstick pulled out in front of me and the trailer brakes worked wonderfully.

Did you install or was it already in the truck? I ask as there are a few different versions out there that all look the same but are for different years and even differnt year build in 2010.
