f150 vs f250 vs 350 vs two vehicles vs F it all vs???
Hey guys. Sorta thinking out loud here..bare w/ me if you care to...
I recently bought my dream fishing boat. 36 yellowfin. Weighs about 13k pounds w/ trailer.
Its slipped but I need to trailer it to get serviced roughly 15 miles each way, hopefully no more than twice a year. That's it. I'll only tow it when it needs servicing. I don't "need" a truck for any other services in my day-to-day life.
I also need a daily driver. I work in the city. Tight parking. I'm often taking clients out to nice restaurants. Trucks are posh as hell these days got no problem carting clients in a truck its just, downtown parking in a truck sucks a big one.
What do I do?
I wouldn't mind an F150 Eco as DD but realistically that wouldn't do either job very well..the towing or the DDing/downtown parking. If I hit someone while over weight capacity I'd lose my *****.
F250 would tow it fine but damn is that thing a monster to get around parking garages. I would be pissing money away buying a used diesel just to tow twice a year then never use it otherwise.
What do you do if you're me? I'll post my total vehicle budget or whatever other info you need to give me advice if you wish. Thanks!

This is one of the latter times.
That never occurred to me.
I actually called the boat company and asked them if they would come to my house and work on my boat at the slip and they were like "ughh...no?"
How did this not occur to me? Oh yeah, because I'm stupid.
Thank you very much sir. This is the obvious solution.

An f150 isn't going to be easy to park downtown either.
With an f250 your also saying goodbye to parking in a lot of parking garages also.
You should be able to get something for 10-15k that should easily get your boat serviced and on another note most marinas would probably offer a service to pick up the boat and drop it off.

First I must say, your one lucky man. My dream is to own a Yellowfin, I know a guy with two. One 24' bay and one 32-36' offshore. Y'all some lucky bastards for sure.
As for the truck question, I understand that you don't need a truck, you only need it to pull every so often.
You have got to have a friend with a 3/4ton huh? Couldn't you fill up his fuel tank or bring him fishing for a tow?
**** if I had a 3/4 ton I'd drive 150miles one way to hook up to the boat and tow it for you for a trip!!
Please post pics of your beauty!!

I have my 150 for personal, and a 250 for work (just got rid of a 2009 w/ v10 for a 2008 w/v8). The 150 rides a lot nicer, the 250 is taller and a harsher ride (heavy duty....). for clients I can't imagine them climbing into a 250/350 and considering it an executive experience...
I used to have an 08 f150 supercab 4x4/longbed in san diego (longggggg wheelbase). Parking and driving downtown was like finding a berth for an aircraft carrier
for your purposes what was posted above is the best answer, you don't need to bother with a truck

Does marina offer full service where they can pull it for you?

Sometimes I think I'm a man of reasonable intelligence and sometimes I think that I'm genuinely stupid.
This is one of the latter times.
