F150 Tailgate Deterrent for my 2012 FX2
step1..T45 Torx,3/8 drive, 4"ext,12"ext
step2..make bushing, 1.6200 id, .125 wall, .750 length." i used bronze "
step3..remove hinge from trk, install bushing as in pic..
step4..finish and touch up paint any tool marks.
You can use brass, pvc, steel pipe. cooper pipe or
whatever you like. I machined my bushing in our shop.
Look around before you procede. Do a neat job please.

Beer Gut Extraordinaire
Buddy got his tailgate snagged off his platinum. Had it locked, BakFlip closed tight and they pried open the BakFlip and snagged the tailgate. I think he said it's almost a couple grand to get a new one....holy ****.

That looks waaay nicer than what I did. I just used a pipe clamp around mine. Looks like it is suppised to be there though. I'm not saying its fool proof but there are lots of F-150's on my street and they may just might move on to another one I live in a neighborhood so when I walk out my door I can see (5) 2009 and newer F-150's. The only worry I have is that mine is the nicest lololol!

Tailgates come off really really easy. Easier than a door on a jeep if you ask me. A good thief can pull up, open your tailgate and be gone in under 20 seconds with a tailgate. To get mine off, they are going to need much more time. Just a little added security is all...
