Because I’d rather have the shifter on the column than in the center console?

Doesn't appear to be a functional benefit unless you pickup streetwalkers............i can see where the shifter would get in the way during a car date.

I never said there was a functional benefit, I just prefer the shifter being on the column. I do enjoy the extra space from the console shifter being gone though.

This is great - I want to do this to my truck so that I can add a jump seat in the front. I'm curious, the new shifter cable - is it possible to run this straight to the transmission and bypass all the extra wiring? Or does that create other headaches? Now that you've had this setup for a couple years has it given you any issues? Thanks!

You need the wire for the brake shift interlock to shift it out of park, and you wouldn’t be able to use the +/- or tow/haul buttons on your shifter without the other wires. Making the wire harness wasn’t difficult, swapping the actual steering column and making the trim pieces work was the hard part. Also I think the lower dash is different between trucks with/without a full center console so removing your console could lead to more problems. The column shifter has been great though, I love it and haven’t had a lick of trouble out of it.
