Default Maxxis Bighorn 762 opinions!

So, I've been looking at these tires for my truck. In size 275/65/18. I do hunt and drive offroad sometimes and do encounter some nasty mud at times, and so far I've heard these provide pretty good traction on and off road. I got a quote (didn't try to negotiate) from my local tire shop for $1,078 OTD mount, balance, etc.

Has anyone ran these? How good (or bad) is tread wear? Expected gas mileage drop? Thoughts and opinions are appreciated!

Also, I have considered Toyo M/T's and Nitto Trails and they are far too expensive for a truck that only goes offroad (in nasty places) a few weekends a year.

My truck is completely stock. 5.0, 4x4, 3.55 ELD

Can you be more specific? Weak sidewall? Fast tread wear?

i ran them on my old GMC in 305/70/17. Wore quite well for the short time i had them. They are similar to the old Goodyear MTR's and perform just as well for a fraction of the cost. I bought mine back in '06 i wanna say for $660 shipped off an ebay store. Of course tire prices have sky rocketed since then.
For a cheap tire they aren't terrible. Summit Mud Dawgs is the same tire as well if you can get them for cheaper. I would look into buying online from somewhere with free shipping, can probably save a few bucks

I run the Buckshot Mudders on my truck in my sig. They are great in the snow and great in the mud. I live on gravel roads and when it rains they are mud. I like the siping in the tires for snow and rain. I farm and hunt a lot and really like the performance/price of these tires. Yes, they definitely whine when on pavement, but not unbearable at all. I looked at the Bighorns, but wanted something more aggressive.

I use to run them on my ranger and loved them! I got 45,000 miles out of them. I put a set on my F150 and they only lasted for 20,000 miles. I would spend the extra money for Toyo's or Nitto's. I put a slightly used set of Nitto's on my truck and I should be able to get 30,000 miles out of them.

That's exactly the answer I was looking for. Thank you sir! It looks like the Toyo's and Nitto's might not be out of the question.

Stay away from those... If you don't hear much, there is a reason. Also, I can't speak for the Trail Grapplers, but I had Nitto Terra Grapplers and the BFG All terrains are a better tire all around.
