Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I am trying to install the recon illuminated sills on my 2013 fx4 right now. Where is the dome light wire? I can access it under the old sills in that huge bundle of wires right? Any help appreciated as I have 0 electrical knowledge. I say a diagram but I don't get how to physically located the wire. Thanks in advance

There is a connection on the passenger side inside the kick panel. Open the kick plate and look for a green connector towards the bottom. You can unplug this to see if the dome light goes out. If it does, you are in the right place. If memory serves correctly, this is a two row connector. One row is full the other about half full. The wire you are looking for is purple. I belive it is in the 4th position. Use a test light or meter to confirm. You can run a staight pin through the wire to make a connection with your meter without having to strip the wires. Ran the ground to a nut in the kick panel.

Click the link I posted below, it helped me a lot and I'm sure it will answer any questions you have! One of them was wrong for my 2012 but I tested all just incase and good thing I did. I would test to make sure but its a great helpful thread. Hope it works out for you and be sure to post some pics

On closer inspection there are 2 purple wires in this clip. One is purple with a red stripe the 2nnd is like half grey half purple. When I sai I have zero electrical knowledge I meant it... How do I test them? Do I need a light or can I use my multimeter? (The one I don't know how to really use, lol)

You can use a multimeter hold it on the wire you will get 12V, when the dome lights finally shut off (few minutes later) test it again...if its a 0 then thats your wire...you can also hold it on those wires and get someone to open another door so the lights come back on, then when it goes up to 12 you know its the right wires.

i had a look at the link, thanks, but it is saying 2013
Driver Front - Thin yellow/green is hot. Thin solid black is ground.
Driver Rear - Thin yellow/green is hot. Thin black/yellow is ground.
Passenger Front - Thin yellow/green is hot. Thin black/yellow is ground.
Passenger Rear - Thin solid purple is hot. Thin black/yellow is ground.
i dont see a yellow/green in the clip that i pulled (which made dome light go off)
i will probably go get a 12v test light tomorrow and maybe snap some pics of what im seeing. i just really dont want to start stripping wires to test them.
