f150 in the future?

So, I own an '09 Screw 4x4 and I like it-prolly have to drive it for another 10 years. What will the F-series be like in 10 years? Just curious. Because I will need a new one then.

I really have no idea so I am going off of what I have read and what I think I know......so this is for entertainment purpose ONLY. I just can't resist not commenting on this...ha ha.

I think in 10 years the new F-Series will weigh a lot less. Like a thousand pounds less. Dare I say this---I think pickup platforms are going to follow SUV crossover trends.......meaning pickups (at least F-150) will go to a unibody platform. I HOPE NOT......but I think it is just a matter of time. I also think the Ecoboost will evolve into some type of hybrid/electric or another of some sort. So I think we are driving the last true generation pickup truck. Not that the future pickups won't be any good.....they will be. Just saying.....enjoy the last traditional pickup platform......it will be going away soon.

OK-Now we need to start a thread to learn how to make our current trucks last 20+ years! No offense, but I am not going to own a truck that is smaller than the current size Taurus.

Concept ideas are never accurate at all..

in 07, this is what we were to expect our 09-currents to be.

Many are of the opinion that there will be a complete makeover of the truck in either the '14 or NLT the '15 MY. If that is the case, it will most likely have a long run similar to what we have now, which really started in '04 and had a minor skin change in '09. There will be some minor changes to the '13, e.g., headlights and maybe an update to the grill, but it will only be a 'bridge' model, until the complete makeover a year or two after.

Yes, the next generation truck will be lighter, maybe will have a new trans, some say an 8-speed A/T and most likely some engine changes/mods, to meet CAFE standards for 2016, as well as the reality of gas prices running up through $4 and on to $5 and $6 + (I paid $4.29 today at the station nearest my home).

In that regard, it may well be, that in the next generation truck, you will have to go to the F-250/350 to get a V-8 and both the 3.7 and the EB will be the main-line motors in the F-150, and with continual upgrades in performance and efficiency along the way.
