I'd say body rust is the only gotcha in that scenario, assuming the 2011 has been taken care of in general. It's 6 years old and the rockers could be in bad shape depending on how, when and where it was driven/parked. I would have no concerns about the frame. Personally, I'd keep the aluminum bodied 5.0 if I were you, but the siren song of Ford's largest modern gas engine is compelling.

There's no way I'd go from the 2016 back to a 2011 with 50,000 miles.First, I'd never give up all those good miles, and I wouldn't go back 5 years, just because of a more powerful engine.Let's put it in perspective - A 1980 Ford F150, with a 351M V8 made a whopping 154hp, and sucked gas.A 2016 F150 5.0 makes 385 horsepower at the crank. a 2011 6.2 makes 411 Horsepower at the crank. With the lighter weight of the 2016 I doubt there is a nickels worth of performance between the two.Plus, have you ever heard about depreciation

I have a 2012 6.2L plat with zero rust and/or any other issue. I would not trade it for a 2016 5.0L XLT. Not that I think anything is wrong with a 5.0L aluminum XLT but I would not trade for it.

I'm perfectly happy with my truck.

You have a great truck - and I'm betting you wouldn't trade it for a 2007 with a bunch more miles on it either

Apples and oranges. Theres no 2007 that has a engine with more power and more torque than the 6.2L. The 6.2L is a more powerful engine than the 5.0. It has way more low end grunt as well. Its also a simpler design, less cams, less chains, less valves.

50K miles is nothing for a truck. The drivetrain should be good for well over 250k miles. Every truck in the junkyard around here has around 400K on them. Front suspension wear is the biggest thing as far as mileage goes. Maybe rock chips in the paint too.

Ok, quick update. Went to the dealership and drove the 2011 platinum 6.2. First impression was: wow, it handles heavy! other than that, this truck was kept prestine! very little frame rust (frame itself has no rust, only certain corners around the little metal parts), body panel clean and no scratch, fully loaded. Leather seats feel strong and solid, the linear shifter also feels tight and detents well (unlike on the Mustangs where it just shuffles back and forth with no clear place to stop click). The engine bay looked good, but it's been sitting on this dealer lot for 9 months now with one winter. They wouldn't reduce the damn price. I loved it. The deal breaker however, was they say IT'S TOO HEAVY TO REGISITER AS A PASSENGER VEHICLE FOR NY STATE!? WTF?

The question here is: was the 6.2L truck build differently? was it a stronger frame? was the sheet metal thicker? what made the truck feel so heavy? just the cast iron V8 alone?
