does it provide any lift-resistance? Not only do I like the fact it keeps it from slamming, but I would also like it if when I leave my gate down for whatever reason (bike in the back, short trip, etc...) that it will keep it from bouncing also.

I tried it twice on my truck. The cable would kink up and push on the tail light lens. I was certain it would catch just right one time and crack my lens. Do you have any suggestions for this. I saw some reviews of people having the same issue.

Did you find one for a 2011 or did you order another year model's? I looked into it but couldn't find a guaranteed fit for my 2011.

Glad y'all like it. I am not with my truck at the moment but I will verify that" up" is easier. It is like shock opposite. The one I got is good for 2004-present. The packaging it arrived in only went to 2006, but it installed easy.
