yeah i saw that. i installed mine with electrical tape and it doesn't pop off per say so much as bend nearly 90 degrees. I think Superdave's solution might be what i try tomorrow (add extra washers, move arm to the inside). i don't care so much about the upward motion as much as i'm worried about the arm coming off the bolt if that tab bends too much. seems like having it on the inside will just give it an extra layer of protection.

Go back in the thread and see the pics of my butyl tape fix (find it in the hardware store electrical aisle). Zip tie works, too, but his should last longer without replacement.

[edit] I saw your second post. Try the butyl tape instead of electrical. It has more "give", but wrap it tight.

Thank you for the idea.
I moved the arm to the inside with extra washers.
Works very good now.

2 extra washers did the trick....works like a charm now. That tork wrench is a piece of junk though. Vise grips are a man's best friend....after duct tape!!! lol

Thanks for the tip!!!

I did the same. = awesome! this is my favorite mod so far. Really don't understand why this doesn't come standard on Ford trucks. It's a freakin brilliant idea.

I live right near a Lowes and a home depot (literally right across the street from one another) and I just picked up a T50 Torx bit for my ratchet wrench. I tried for 30 minutes to get stock bolt to budge with the included wrench. Came off like warm butter with a ratchet and the right bit though. The power of leverage... who knew!?!?!

i found the part here after a quick search. i think this forum has bought out the place where i bought mine originally. i can't believe all you guys are having troubles. mine loosens some on the bolt that goes into the tailgate but i just hand tighten it every now and then. i prolly need to lock tight it, but just been too lazy. here's the link to where you can buy these. the one i bought is for years 2004-present f150's.

i had to locktight the tailgate bolt.

For the love of god the POS "C" clip that holds the gas shock on the tailgate bolt popped off. it has been a bitch trying to find a replacement. I ended up taking a piece of thin copper wire and twisting it into the groove. Works great for now..

I wish i could get ahold of the guys who made this. It is a great idea with poor quality.

Charge the extra 5 or 10 dollars and make the parts better... I love it though.

Thank you for calling it a "C" clip and not an "E" clip! lol

I have had 0 problems with mine, have had it on for a few months now, fingers crossed. I used a weather proof torch to melt the plastic sleeve that goes over the foam. It really compressed the foam and works as described in instructions.

I may go with the 2 washer set up though as I wouldn't mind getting rid of the foam just because!
