After all the issues I have had with factory warranty and extended warranty on the diesels I've owned. I will say F-It. Ford will find a way to get out of any major repair no matter what warranty you have factory or extended. Save the money and fix it your self if. A prime example is the rear window defrost/exploading issues on the f150. Go see how many people got there windows replaced with the extended warranty.

Most of the these threads are filled people sharing they bought it, why they bought it, where, how much it cost them, etc. Never any "Good thing I had it" stories.
The example above that I posted wasn't good enough?

Maybe I should start a new thread every day with all the examples of how my customers saved money with their Ford ESP.

They wouldn't sell it if they didn't make money on it!

How often does a computer break in a vehicle anyways. Not often, you only hear of problems because people with problems complain on here. Minority of owners use these forums majority own the truck with ZERO issues.

Why do I need such a warranty at cost out of my pocket, did I buy a lemon? The finance manager sure tried to make me think I did when he offered that extended warranty.

I bought it, then had it fully refunded 2 days later. Read the fine print, it doesn't cover everything and they charge 100$ deductible.

If you like gambling and are scared, buy it.
You have very little understanding of how things work. If you think anyone, even the manufacturer of a quality product, expects a machine as complex as a vehicle to operate perfectly 100% of the time forever and ever, you may be legally insane. It is an imperfect man made machine operated by imperfect people. Things WILL go wrong. If you only plan to own your vehicle for a short time, fine. Your chances of problems will be less. The longer you own it, the more chance you have that things will need replacement. It may not be for you, but there are plenty of people who it works out VERY VERY VERY well for. They are my customers and are very happy when I tell them things are covered (which is most things on a PremiumCare ESP) and they are more than happy to pay their $100 deductible. I won't even talk about how many people have asked me "would this have been covered if I went for that extended warranty?" to which I've replied "yup, sure would have been"

Just stop.

I do understand how things work, I work on heavy equipment and all sorts of machinery in the real world. It's what I do for a living.

According to you Ford products are absolute lemons it seems. You work at a f'n dealer man, of course you see vehicles that need warranty repair all the time.

I've had vehicles only require servicing and so have many others, so save that extended warranty bull.

I do my own repairs once a vehicle is out of factory warranty. I'm capable, I've got tools, internet, and a trade ticket.

That extended warranty might be worth it if something goes, but chances are, it won't.

Reading the fine print I'll pass.

In the end of it all, Ford just would not sell a product that was unprofitable ie. Ford ESP.
That's just not good business practice.

When I bought my truck in Sept. '14 I did a lot of reading/research. I found one study that shows 85% of people never recoup the cost of the warranty. It's like a casino.....They don't build them to lose money. You might win once in awhile but the odds are stacked against you.

The mark up on these is extremely huge.

This should be brought up in the "exploding window" thread. How can Ford deny some peoples warranty claim and the pay on others?

Maybe my perspective is skewed due to the fact that we have a very loyal customer base that returns for all of their regular service which allows us to keep up with every aspect of the car every few months. If we see that a small leak has started, the control arm bushings have begun to separate or a wheel bearing is a bit loose and a customer has the extended warranty, we can take care of it on the spot no questions asked and the customers are happy as all get-out. Yes, the expensive things are more rare but it's not that uncommon to need an A/C condenser, radiator, alternator, window regulator, etc etc etc at some point as the car ages. Ford gets a lot of money for these parts. Pick any two of the items I just listed and you are more than halfway to what the warranty cost in the first place. For the person who wants peace of mind, doesn't have $1500 to drop in an instant on an unexpected repair or just doesn't know how to fix a car themselves, the extended warranty is very much worth it.

The up-front profit that the dealer makes on a Ford ESP is not nearly what you think. The dealers who sell third party contracts make oodles more on those type of contracts and they are the worst ones to deal with and cover nothing. We make our money on the repairs on the car later.

Had mine replaced. Seemed to be more the dealer than Ford themselves. Had a dealer that gave a **** and took pictures and got in touch with Ford. Also had Crystal help me out here. Helps when you find an honest service manager and moral dealership.

This. Ford doesn't want to pay but with a little extra leg work, a good dealer will get you taken care of to some degree.

If you treat your customers great congratulations for you. Some dealerships don't. I'm just saying in my experience that from $1200-$120 for a warranty seems like a lot of profit. If it helps you sleep better at night,go buy one I don't see the need for them.

Stop insulting others and being butt hurt over warranties that you did or didn't buy.

I bought one for my truck and my wife's new Escape, after being a Ford dealer tech for 11 years I have seen them pay for itself in one visit on a simple a/c repair. My time in was 93-04 and along the span of time I have seen people literally cry because they couldn't afford to pay for repairs.

An ESP is just like any other insurance, you buy it because your betting a man made machine will break, the dealer or who ever is betting not if but when it does break it will be minimal in cost to them. Add in all the extra electronics and such and even though vehicle are better built now than even 10 years ago, life happens.

Anyone here play the lotto? How bout a stop in Vegas? Do you buy life insurance? Do you buy insurance of any type? If so your playing the same game just a different wrapping.

My view may also be skewed because of the shear volume of repairs I have personally seen but in the grand scheme of things I look at it like it is, it's just an insurance policy for peace of mind and that my friends is PRICELESS!
