Extended Warranty worth the Money?
The manufacturer bumper to bumper warranty will expire on my truck in 3 months. I will still have the power train warranty for another two years. I don't put a lot of miles on due to my work schedule, so I'm not in any danger of maxing out on mileage.
I got a quote for $1,500. from the dealer yesterday on extending the bumper to bumper until the power train warranty expires (additional two years) Zero deductible.
My truck is perfect. Not one thing has broken/malfunctioned, but it is a low miler. I'm having a difficult time deciding on dishing out the money to extend the bumper to bumper. I'd say the big cost repairs would come from power train issues, and anything the bumper to bumper covers such as a power window motor malfunction, a blown speaker or a broken shock, would be much less than the cost to extend the warranty.
I suppose piece of mind is worth something, but is it worth $1,500? What do you think?

I did as well, having a platinum it has ALL the electrical gadgets. odds are something will fail at some point. Also, haggle with them on the price. Levittown, Flood, and one other ford dealer (all vendors here) sell the Ford extended warranty for less than that I believe. Find out what they sell them for and then decide if you want to give them the chance or if you just wanna buy it from the dealer you find here.

Are you the type of person who buys life insurance for just in case? If you are, then yes, it might be worth it....

It's worth every. last. penny. Especially if you have a good dealer where you service regularly. Oftentimes we will come across a couple items during regular service that need attention that the owner didn't even know about. The extended warranty saves me the trouble of presenting a costly repair to a customer and saves that customer a lot of money. NOTHING is cheap to fix on modern cars. An alternator on a well-equipped F150 lists for almost $700...just for the part! You can take your chances and risk an expensive repair or be safe and not come out of your pocket on possibly more than one occasion over the life of the truck.

I've never bought the extended warranty and I'm way ahead. They profit huge on those, that's why they push it on you so hard when you buy. After turning it down 3-4 times, I've saved somewhere around $6000-$8000. If something breaks, I will pay for it then. They rely on fear to sell people those warranties.
