Default Extang Encore for 6.5' bed

Hey all,

I have a chest toolbox mounted in my bed and have been entertaining the idea of getting a tonneau cover and like the look of the Extang Encore. However, I want to make sure that I can open the toolbox lid with the front section folded open so I was hoping someone with the Encore on a 6.5' bed would be willing to measure how far back that hinge is from the front of the bed.

Thanks a ton!

Sorry, seen this thread yesterday and been meaning to get a dimension for you. I have a 2013 XTR crew cab 6.5 ft bed. It measures a little over 25". I can get you a picture if needed to show you what you would be really dealing with.

Thanks! So there's plenty of room for a 20" toolbox to open

Should add, how do you like the cover?

Yes there should be plenty of room for that. Sorry but I have realized my bed is 5.5 ft. My last truck was 6.5 ft. I am sure there won't be much difference if not a little more space than the 25" this is. I have owned many different tonneau's in the past. This is my first "hard" type. All the fabric one's were nice at first, but I live in Michigan and they take a beating from weather and don't last. This one was quite "pricey" but am happy so far. I have only had it about 3 months. Curious to see how it handles the cold and winter.

I really like the locking feature and the access by the cab. That is AWESOME!!! I will post a couple pics when I get a chance.

Some observations:

- I'll bet a call to Extang would have yielded an exact answer.
- It matters how the cover is mounted for an exact answer of how much room you will have - since you can slide front to back the width of the front of the bed.

I have a 6.5 foot bed. The front section, when opened, provides 29 1/2 inches of open access - but I have a bed liner so it might be 29 3/4. Keep in mind that the hinge portion is inches wide - and is lower than the rest of the cover, so if the box is under the hinge and taller than 20" you may have a problem.

Toolbox is 19 1/4" high and 20 1/4" deep so it sounds like I have plenty of room to stay away from the hinge.
