Ahh ok, so you hit the passenger side and there is a bigger plug there? On the drivers side, there is just the single wire with a spade connector into the heat element on the glass, that's what i unplugged and covered in shrink wrap.

not disagreeing with you. There’s a ton of threads on this problem. I feel mods trying to stitch them together would be a pain. Plus which one do you sticky? I also see people just creating new threads about it which is easier and not looking for a sticky. This one is 90 pages and would make a great candidate that gets my vote

After watching a cpl of you tube videos on how to replace the rear window I clued in that the defrost wiring actually connects to the rear window at the bottom passenger side right in the corner , in my case two wires clip onto the window frame. I took a guess that the larger was power and maybe the smaller was ground?? So i unclipped the large wire. It's tucked in just behind the plastic cowl for the rear seatbelts. (I reached in with a narrow set of needle nose and gave it a slight tug)
I then put the fuse back in started truck and hit the rear defrost button. The indicator light in the dash DID NOT come on but the mirrors heated up and the rear window stayed cool.
I wrapped the connector in electrical tape and tucked it behind the sound proofing material behind the seat, I'll reconnect it when I decide to sell
I hope this helps anyone who doesn't want to shatter another window but wants to have the heated mirrors back
----------------

Thanks for this - came back to review what I should try with my now-replaced rear window. Winter is "over" here in Saskatchewan after one last -15 blast and snow dump. I will want my mirrors to defrost and would LIKE the light to light up but not a biggie. More important is to eliminate the heat going to the rear window so this doesn't happen again. Thankful for my $100 deductible but once is enough!

i found a video in a thread related about this, it said created a jumper using two female connectors and some wire. I did that but i originally just disconnected the ground and a yellow wire on the passenger side. They were taped up but now i dunno where they connect to. They have female connectors of different sizes. Any help so i can plug them in. They are attached to one side of the connector i jumped.

Edit: i drove to work, the light on the dash finally comes on after it being done “properly”. The window opens and closes, as it should. Ill find out with a frost soon

Thanks for the reference back to Post #883. Cheers.

Default Changed from Slider to none Slider

I have a 2014 F150 XLT and I replaced my slider back window with a none slider. Defrost doesn't work and defrost button doesn't turn on. When I looked at the plug on Pax side, there was only a black wire going to window grid, there used to be two wires a black one and a yellow one. The yellow wire isn't there anymore only the black one going to the back window. Am I suppose to have the yellow wire and Where does it plug in to?
