I don't think the contact pads are accessible once the window is assembled. Regardless of which condition exists, the only fix is a new window assy.

Thanks for the info. Might see if I can get it replace using my certified pre-owned warranty. But for now it works with the connections taped together.

Let me get this straight. The only way to prevent this is to disconnect the drivers side ground wire at the rear window for the defrost to make it inoperable, but in doing so allows you to be able to use the mirror defrost function?

I really don’t have an answer for that. I think people are just upset that something they paid (a lot) for isn’t working like it’s supposed to. I feel the same way. Although I wish it worked, It doesn’t so I’m making sure it doesn’t fail. I have the backup camera, I use my mirrors so it doesn’t bother me as much as it it should.

It doesn't bother me because I have a cap that fits pretty tight and have no real need for the defrosting rear window.

I have a cap on the bed of my 2014 SCREW and only used the defrost t clear the mirrors. The right side glass in the power slider spontaneously shattered this past winter. Clearly no chance of any impact on the glass. It cost me $500 deductible but that didn't cover the cost of having the cap removed and reinstalled in order to replace the slider glass, plus the hassle. I had Safelite NOT connect the defrost connection on the new glass.
