Good luck with that... 99% sure they will say it's your fault. Let me know how it turns!

On right on cue for winter....the exploding window thread is back!

Mine is unhooked. This thread made me paranoid. I still have my mirrors working and that's all I need.

Extended warranty won't cover it because of glass exclusion. Might have been able to push it on the fact that it was or now is an electrical issue but found out my auto insurance policy will cover with a low deductible. It wasn't a very cold morning the day it happened. Failure is probably a product of over heating or too rapid heating of one area of the glass vs. another.

Yep. Either unplug it or don't use the defrost.

From everything I've read, it doesn't appear to affect the replacements.
That would include mine. Which didn't shatter, it just stopped defrosting.
That's just me remembering what I think I've read. I could be wrong.
I also noticed a few weeks after the repair, that the defroster button was newer than the rest.
I didn't think you could remove just that switch, but it's definitely newer.

With all that said tho, I only need mine once or twice a year. When I need my mirrors free of ice or snow, I always wait till the interior is good and warm before hitting that button.

I should just unplug the rear window, but like I said I don't remember reading about any replacement sliding windows shattering.

On my 2014 Screw FX4 with sliding rear window , My defroster has stopped defrosting twice so far. The dealer has replaced the entire rear glass twice now and the truck has 36 000 miles. The dealer outsource the glass replacement but the glass that was installed was the ford oem glass.

I turned mine on a couple a weeks ago , We had a heavy frost on the mirrors and windows my switch does not light up anymore , It worked fine last winter now it does not work !! Power slider works just no defrost. 2013 xlt super crew 14000 miles now , I bought the truck new I have the ford extended warranty
I guess I need to take it in, I do need my mirrors to defrost.
