Are you talking about post 520? If yes, then I wonder if there are 2 different ones out there and the one in 520 is the update?

Need others to look at there windows and if someone that had an exploding one saw the difference.

Glad to see more replacements being covered. I'm out of factory warranty but have a really good extended warranty. I'll make sure it covers it before I turn it on again

Well my window shattered as well. The rear window defroster button stopped working a month ago but I guess it somehow worked this time when I started the truck with my remote start. Was interested that 2 windows were clear but the other had frost, well it wasn't frost just cracks!

I called the service guy at my dealer and he said they just did one for a guy. He said with the extended warranty, it would be a $100 to replace the back window. Then I told him about the defroster not working, he said there would not be a deductible to fix it for that reason...WTF?

They did set up an appointment with a glass company to come out to the dealer and swap out the window for me. I hope they use a better window or at least glass in the replacement. I would think it would be a OEM part but if not, it may be better.

When I got the extended warranty, the guy told us if we didn't use it, we would get most of the money back. As we are nearing the end of the warranty (and not using it) why should this count towards it as it is a obvious defect?

Has anyone ever got them to extend the warranty for this repair?

I have an appointment Thursday to get my rear window replaced. No broken glass just defroster not working. It's a 2012 XLT but covered under the extended warranty. While I'm there they are going to replaced the melted fog light harness. I'll get pics of the old glass and the new glass to see if they are different.

I too have had my Rear Defroster button stop working about 2 weeks ago, though no broken glass ....yet.
But I talked to my advisor & even asked about the shattering rear glass and how often has he been seeing this lately?

His reply was: "There actually have been quite a few", ...and then he started laughing...ODDLY, yesterday while he was getting ready to go to work (remember he is a FORD SERVICE ADVISOR), even HIS back glass shattered on him in his driveway!!
So yes... there is definitely a problem going on here!

Tomorrow I will be making an appointment and they will be replacing the entire back glass as well on mine.

Sounds like Ford is just playing dumb because the cost of replacing everyone's rear glass is a lot more than going on a case by case basis

In the end mine was covered by warranty. I took it back last night, and the Tech checked the plug for the power slider. It had come loose. The power slider now works, and my next oil change is on the house for my trouble coming back.

I decided to purchase a 2014 model so I could get the final year for this platform. I figured all the bugs would be worked out. The 2015's I expected to have growing pains because of the new platform. I imagined the 2014 would be a more reliable truck, and I could get ten years out of it like my previous 2005 Super Duty.

Seeing that these rear window issues have been going on for years is a little alarming. I'm not so sure my last model year of the platform strategy is working.
