It's even more frustrating to find threads like this that prove this has been an issue for years, and never fully resolved. This does seem to be "normal" though. Bummer. Especially with the price we've all paid for these trucks!

I do appreciate all the good information in this thread. Off to the dealer this afternoon. Again.
I know it sucks!! Make sure to go in and turn the rear defroster off under the remote start settings.

Well some good news....sorta. My co-worker took his truck, 2014, in last week after his rear window exploded while using the defroster and Ford took care of it. No hassle. Hopefully this means Ford is stepping up.

Was his truck under any warranty?

I'm hoping to hear from my dealer today or tomorrow. They've had my truck since Monday night. The Service Adviser said it would take all week to get approvals, order the rear window, and install it. The back seat and interior panels all come out, and the head liner is dropped. He also said he'd call for my credit card if the warranty didn't cover it. I've not heard anything, so that's good. It's been a long week of driving my Jeep TJ to work! I normally only drive it in the summer with no top or doors. Winter Jeeping is rough! I miss my truck!

If you have premium esp its covered. Have your dealer punch in this basic part number "H42006" when checking for coverage in oasis. If they punch in 42006 it will come up not covered. The H in 42006 stands for heated.

Cheers

I know it sucks for you guys but these windows are so easy to replace yourself.

Parts are about $400-450 for power, I did manual slider in mine for $250.00 shipped.

There is actually a TSB for inoperative rear window defroster. It does not mention shattered glass. Only that the defroster stops working.

Why would you want to repair and pay for something that is defective?

Took my service advisor about 30 minutes to take pics and enter information. They responded in about 10 minutes.

Unfortunately, Monday was MLK Day, so nobody home at Ford. :-(
