Mine was replaced by the sales dealer "calling Ford for the fix." This is obviously a problem.....

Mine cracked like a spider web. Out from the element. Looking from the rear it was the right portion of the three portion window. Mine is a 2010.

I have not used the rear heater since. Do not want to test it.

Will someday I guess. DC winter is not bad at all this year. I live in the VA Suburbs. We either get slammed or nothing for winters.

Keep this going - it is obviously an unaddressed problem by Ford.

Default Broken Window

I will never use the back defroster again.

Not ever using the rear window defroster is not an answer!!!

My 2010 Raptor shattered glass this morning. Was cold enough here in cincinnati that my windows frosted overnight. Turned on the rear window heater and about a mile up the road I heard a really loud snap. Sure enough my right (passenger) window in the back glass is spidered.

Luckily I'm still in warranty for a couple months. I guess I'll be taking it to the dealer on monday...

How long have you guys owned the truck before it shattered? Do you guys have sliding window or solid?

I think it may have something to do with the sliding rear window. I have solid and 2 winters of using defrost everyday mine has been fine.

Quick update. I printed several forum threads concerning the issue plus at least 15 documented cases of this happening that have been posted on the NTHSA website and gave everything to the dealer when I took my truck in this morning. Dealer called me 3 hours after I dropped it off and said Ford will cover my replacement window at no cost to me, they are ordering me a new right rear glass today.

I have a 2010 F-150 FX4 with the rear defrost and sliding window, and just had this happen this morning. Scared me half to death! I'm over 60,000km, so it's my cost, and can't put through my extended warranty or my insurance (I checked both). So glad my daughter wasn't with me, as there are tiny shards of glass inside on the seat, and outside on the tonneau. Since the whole back window (all three pieces) has to be replaced together and they don't have stock, I had to tape up the glass for now. Hoping to replace later this week.
