It's pretty clear that these days, you need a vehicle to spontaneously explode in your driveway, injuring several school children, and impregnating a few nuns, before you'll get something covered out of warranty. I'd be much happier if it wasn't such a hassle to deal with under warranty.....

Unfortunately I'd have to agree with you on that. GM had to kill at least a couple of dozen to get their key issue recall started. I think the body count is over 50 at this point.

I have a 2014 F150 Lariat with only 6K miles on it. I have not had this issue yet but my cousin has on his 2013 Raptor. I thought I'd chime in because his case seems to be unique compared to others.

I read on one post earlier someone was asking if anyone had repeat issues. Well, the answer to that would be "yes".

My cousin has just this morning had his driver's side rear window explode for the SECOND time in 2 months. He's really, really pissed. The first time he thought it might be just something he did. He never even considered that it might have been a defect and had it replaced through his insurance. Now that it's happened twice to the same window that pretty much seals the deal for him. We started searching the internet for similar problems and came across miriads of websites dealing with this issue, including this one.

So to answer some questions in case anyone has them.

Yes, it has happened more than once to an individual vehicle.

No, the replacement glass does not have the issue fixed.

I'm going to see if I can pull that fuse on mine. If not, I'll unplug them. Not willing to take the risk.

Yup, you know how it works but 29 nuns need to be impregnated.

Question

Hi all
I guess I just became a member of this unfortunate club, my back window shattered the other morning while it was warming up (used the remote start) I have had it replaced and since I don't want it to happen again I removed fuse#32 which did disable the rear defrost but it also seemed to disable the heated mirrors, my understanding was they would still work ,maybe I didn't give them enough time to warm up .
So if someone could clarify for me are the heated mirrors supposed to work and do they still work on a timer ? The dash light for rear defrost/heated mirrors doesnt light up anymore is that also normal? I have a 2011 fx4.

I too have had the same issue. Not a great experience with my local dealer or the Ford contact center.

I just sent you a PM, Crystal.
