I've been wondering this too ... from all I have read, there's no clear line on which year models are affected. Only thing i have seen is that people have noted that the replacement glass unit is slightly different than before ... but still not sure if this "revised' unit is standard in certain models (say, '13 and up) or not.

I had a thought today about this issue. Is this only happening on slider windows? If so is it possible that the slider is not making contact with the elements? I'm thinking that maybe only one piece of glass is heating therefore causing an overheated situation and BOOM!

It maybe getting power from the channel but not all across the window. On my 12 there are defrost elements across all three windows. Going to look after work and see what side the wires hook in. It is just a thought I had and I am no means an expert but you never know?

I am not sure on the 12, but on my original 10 glass, there were two wires on the passenger side about a 1/2" apart. On my replacement glass, there is one wire on the passenger side and one on the driver side that goes straight to ground.
