The NTHSA seems to be a Lap Dog for the auto makers rather then the Watch Dog it was intended too be.

Guess who joined the exploding rear window club. This guy and he is not happy. I used the defrost this morning on my drive to work because we had a heavy frost overnight. It was about 7-10 minute drive. When I shut my truck off at work, the window was intact. When I got in the truck 10 hours later to leave work, I seen that it was broken. Weird that it broke with no power going to it. I already talked to my dealer and they have to call their dealer for glass tomorrow. I am going to call insurance tomorrow also.

I used it quite a bit last year with all the snow we had, but have only used it a few times this year. 50700 miles.

Quick update:

My driver's side mirror was stolen on xmas day (assclowns!). I went to get an estimate for the mirror and asked about my reimbursement for the rear window minus the deductible. They said they sent it to the dealer. The dealer quoted me $900 but went up to $1200 when they found out that Ford was willing to pay for half (which I still doubt). They gave me 2 receipts, one for $600 that I paid and another for $1200 for my insurance. Now I'm thinking Ford might've comp'd the window but charged me $600 for the repair. Then took the insurance money too.

They also gave me 6 free oil changes but on my 4th one, they tried to charge me "or I won't get my truck back." F**king criminals. I got the sales manager to give me a card for a free oil change so I could get out of there.

And my battery is dying again. They tested it and came back with 415 CCA (650 CCA rated) and 12.2v after a full charge. They won't replace the battery.

DO NO GO TO QUALITY AUTO IN RUTHERFORD, NJ.

It seems every time I step foot in that dealership, they try to rip me off and I always leave feeling like crap.

Oh they are a watch dog, unfortunately the dog only gets involved after people die. Since there are no incidents of fatalities or injuries from exploding backlite there is not much that NTHSA can doo.
Personally I think it is more of a design and quality issue then a safety concern.

I there are injuries associated with this problem then they should be documented and reported to NTHSA. I have not heard of any except to some peoples wallets.
