I am amazed that with so many others having the same problems with the rear window exploding, that Ford has not offered its customers any sort of resolution.
We had our 2011 F-150 FX2 fixed through our insurance company and (due to this claim I assume) our auto insurance has now gone up another $20 a month. We kept the back window as well as pictures as we figure to continue in the pursuit for some sort of acknowledgment from Ford on this issue.

Until sales are impacted, a class action lawsuit is won or the Feds make them, Ford will never do anything with problems such as these, let a lone, the known issues with late model AC"s and tornado fans under the hood.

Hi my name is Chris. Just joined up here as I am a victim also. I was driving home from the in laws the other night with three kids(ages 3,2, and 4 months) and this same thing happened to me. About 5 minutes down the road after I turned on the defroster heard a loud pop/bang. Thought it was something on the roof, later when I checked the rear veiw mirror I see the passenger side section of the glass shattered. Completely who, no impact spots just shattered. I assumed it was from the defroster at the time. After doing a google search I saw this among other reports of others having this happen.
I just got off the phone with the NY/NJ regional customer service manager and all she wanted to do was sell me an extended plan. She told me she wasn't concerned with what was on the internet regarding potential safety hazzards or recalls. If it wasn't brought to her attention from someone at Ford Motor company she wouldn't acknowledge it.
After reading through this thread I have posted a complain with the NHTSA. Hope we can get a resolution from Ford on this.

well damn. Looks like Ill be buying a new ice scraper and de-icer. My 11 has not blown up yet but Ill be damned if I am going to chance it now. Maybe this winter since still have some warranty but surely not after that.

I have been a loyal ford customer and supporter but I am starting to loose confidence in them.

Don't get your hopes up. They don't care about this issue.

I pulled the fuse so I can still use my mirror defrost.

Well just checked my certified warranty. It specifically says it does not cover the glass so no defrost for me.
I'm sure I'll find it but what fuse is it in an 11 so I too can still have mirror defrost. Also has any tried to disconnect that portion of the defrost and left the middle and drivers side working. At least some would be better than none.

No clue.

On my '10, it's in the fuse box in the engine compartment.

#32 "Heated Backlite"

It should be in your owner's manual.

*edit:
Just looked it up. It's the same #32 40amp fuse but yours also controls the heated mirrors.

But... On page 335, fuse #56 15amp is for heated mirrors.

#32 is a relay, #56 is a fuse. Maybe for different packages?

Hopefully they addressed that.... I could only imagine the pain I'd put Ford through if that happened with my daughter in the back....
