i posted earlier in this thread back in January. The glass shattered on our 2010 SCrew. The mileage on the rig was in the low 40K range so I was out of the factory warranty, but I had the Ford ESV contract.

My dealer was cautious, said they had to take pictures and send it in to Ford for review. Essentially my dealer had to plead my case. Ford ended up covering it, minus my $100 deductible.

I think it depends on the dealer if they are willing to go to bat for you.

Default Rear window just shattered

My rear drivers side slider window just shattered last night on me. I have a 2013 Ford F150 FX4 with 61,000 km on it just passed the warranty. Im taking it to the dealer tomorrow and they are going to try to fight for me (so they say). they also said they have to take pictures and send them in. It was +2 celcius and I had the rear defrost on as well. The dealer said because I have after market window tint on it that the warranty is going to try and fight it against me. NOt sure how window tint can effect a window but its holding everything together right now. I'm not impressed either way. ford quoted me at $800 plus labour and taxes.

I work for a ford dealer and can tell you that we do probably do 2 a week, sometimes more. Rear glass defroster either doesn't work, or the glass has exploded. I see it mostly on the 14's.
As a Warranty administrator I sure hope Ford steps up to the plate and issues a customer satisfaction program extending the coverage on these. I don't see a recall happening.
And yes I own a 14 too.

I not only contacted dealer, but also ford 800 customer service, the dealer wasn't doing ish, but ford contacted the dealer and told them to give me half off of warehouse price, it's cost me 378 out the door! Better than 800, but I'm still pissed I had to pay anything at all really bc clearly this is a manufacturer defect and truly needs to be recalled!

Mine exploded today on my 13. Scared the poop out of me! Sounded like a boulder landed on the roof. Went straight to dealer. My warranty runs out in 3 days. They took pictures and entered the information in to corporate. They contacted my rep in about 10 minutes and said its covered. I was shocked!

Just factory warranty. He did make a point to tell them the defroster was on. I used the remote start and it turned it on. I have since went into the remote start settings and turned it off. Glad my 9 month old was not back there. Would have really scared her for sure.

I wonder about my warranty, it's a 2010, 64,000 miles. Where are you located? Yes, we had the defrost on as well, it happened to the same window too!
