I agree with you but Ford will never, ever except responsibility for this problem.

Well I have some bad news. Tried the window on the way home from work and while the slider works, the defrost does not. When I press the button, nothing happens, but if you wait a bit, the light will come on then go out then back on, but its not a flash. There is also a weird high pitched buzz coming from the engine fuse panel. If I pull fuse 32, the buzz goes away and the side mirror heat works. Guess I will be making a call in the morning and if they are not open, I will call Monday. I have bad luck for some reason with glass on this truck.

Default 2013 Fx4 rear window shatters, why?

Temp. Around 15. Rear defroster off. Heat on, auto start to let it warm up in the garage maybe 5 minutes. Get in the truck, close the door normally, hear a pop and discover the rear window behind the left rear passenger has popped. Dealer says that it will likely not be covered. Options?

Maybe contact insurance, argue with Ford... Or pay cash :/

They gave me 2 receipts, one for $600 that I paid and another for $1200 for my insurance. Now I'm thinking Ford might've comp'd the window but charged me $600 for the repair. Then took the insurance money too. They also gave me 6 free oil changes but on my 4th one, they tried to charge me "or I won't get my truck back." F**king criminals. I got the sales manager to give me a card for a free oil change so I could get out of there. And my battery is dying again. They tested it and came back with 415 CCA (650 CCA rated) and 12.2v after a full charge. They won't replace the battery. DO NO GO TO QUALITY AUTO IN RUTHERFORD, NJ. It seems every time I step foot in that dealership, they try to rip me off and I always leave feeling like crap.
And to think I was recommended to them from here.. Don't go to all American ford either. There's no good dealer in bergen county lol.

I know many wouldn't understand my decision, but after this and almost getting run over by a semi after CAC issues (twice), I sold my truck. I didn't lose anything but the cost of tint, linex, and 1/3 worn at2 extremes.
In my opinion my ford wasn't ever fixed, just band aids on everything. Not acceptable for a 50k truck and by putting my kids safety on the line. Ford will never admit their baby the " ecoboost" has issues that need to be addressed on a large scale- recall. If I ever buy another Ford it will be many years down the road and a naturally aspirated v8!
I'll be around as I like the group, but the new owner takes delivery next week.

I told him that I talked to my dealer (who said this was the first one they had ever seen) and sent Ford an email and neither offered anything. Oh well, at least its fixed. Just have to wait and see if my insurance rate goes up for filing the claim.
Give the information on this site to your insurance agent
Maybe they can look & see if this is a trend among Insurance companies & pressure Ford to fix the flaw

does this count for an exploding rear window? my truck was broken into last week and 'thankfully' they broke the rear glass (and of course stole about $400 worth of stuff, can only a ninja fit through that small, sliding glass?). I was one who Ford declined to fix the rear defroster issue. Now after paying my deductible, my insurance will be replacing the entire back window sometime next week.

i dont blame you at all. My 11 is disappointing me in the fit and finish department. Nothing seriously mechanical yet knock on wood but a few things that are frustrating. And of course fear of the window exploding with my 2 year old in it. Rode in my Brother in laws GMC Z71 and I will say I enjoyed the ride.

What are you getting now?
