I have a 2010 F-150 FX4 with the rear defrost and sliding window, and just had this happen this morning. Scared me half to death! I'm over 60,000km, so it's my cost, and can't put through my extended warranty or my insurance (I checked both). 
So glad my daughter wasn't with me, as there are tiny shards of glass inside on the seat, and outside on the tonneau. Since the whole back window (all three pieces) has to be replaced together and they don't have stock, I had to tape up the glass for now. Hoping to replace later this week.

Mine was a full replacement as well. The glass shop I used said they could not find a single replacement piece if I even wanted to try that option. On the bright side, I now have a spare motor in case my rear slider ever craps out.

I have 2010 F150 with a heated rear window. The truck has 22,000 miles on it and I have had it more than the 3 year factory warranty. I purchased the PREMIUM CARE that extends the warranty an additional 4 years out to 75,000 miles. The warranty covers "Heated Back Glass )electrical only-not glass damage or breakage". Yesterday I turned on the defrost and within a few minutes the glass popped and spider cracked. The heating element malfunctioned super heating the glass causing the glass to break. There was no impact it is clearly the result of an electrical malfunction. Ford will not cover the $1,100 to replace the heated window. I understand that impacts to the glass should be excluded. However an electrical malfunction should be covered.
I called the glass shop the Cal Worthington Ford use and they replace a lot of these units for the exact same issue (passenger side glass breaks). In fact they had another F150 in their shop today.
A simple google of the problem reveals that numerous 2010 F150 owners have had the same malfunction. In some reported cases there were reports of smoke and fire occurring. Mr Gordon - Anchorage, AK

My 2010 F150 is possessed
The saga continues. I moved the passenger seat forward to vacuum the rear floor of the truck. The seat will no longer move and when you use the seat adjustments switches all the dash lights come on like a Christmas tree. When the ignition is on the airbag lights is on and a single bar on the passenger seat heat is on (will not turn off). Took it to the dealer and they now have me in a rental (a Nissan Titan).
Anyone else have weird electrical issues occur before or after having the passenger side rear window pop?

Every one should report this to the NHTSA as it could pose safety issues and is a defect. This should be a recall.

Ditto. 2010 F150 screw. Happened on Sept 24. My previous truck had an automatic defrost. It turned off automatically after some time. Doesn't this one turn off automatically? Anyway, went to Ford with print outs of this issue from the web including this site and said "what the hell?" I ended up having to pay $300 +tax for a complete replacment back window. I called a friend who does glass and he could have gotten the original back glass with power sliding window for $360 or the one piece for $260 cash (his cost). Ford says it's a $1200 repair and blah blah blah I should count myself lucky I'm getting a good deal. Anyway, looking forward I'm thinking of disconnecting the rear window defroster connector. Dealer denies ever hearing of this, they actually go as far as to try and blame the customer! Me. Typical of service departments I guess.

Go to the NHTSA site and look at the complaints on the 2010's and there are many complaints on this exploding and smoking rear window.
Really? Ford has no clue about complaints from the NHTSA? What a bunch of liars!
While you are there file a complaint yourself and hopefully we can get this issue recalled.

This happened to me today!! And the glass company said they'd seen a few of these, yet Ford's corporate headquarters was 'shocked.' They, of course, aren't doing anything. Complain to NHTSA so we can get a recall!! Obviously a manufacturer issue...I'm complained to Ford, NHTSA, and BBB...
