Default Expected OTD Price off MSRP

Hi Guys,

Its been a while since I've been on the site, it feels great to be back! I'm a former owner of a 06 XLT SCrew and miss the truck terribly. I'm planning to rejoin the F150 world in the next couple months. I live in the Pacific NW (Portland) and I've been searching the market for the last month to get an idea of pricing.

I've always been the type of person who prefers to buy a 1 or 2 year old vehicles to avoid the initial depreciation hit. However this time I'm considering going "new". Since the "new" car buying process is foreign to me, I'm hoping you guys can help out. Some questions I've got:

- How much off MSRP is reasonable to assume? (I've read BigWilly's post from this morning)

- Are dealerships willing to make a deal on better tires than the stock? (also read treault's post from yesterday)

- How does adding a level kit or lift effect the new car warranty (both bumper to bumper and powertrain)? The reason I ask is that my other car is a BMW X5 and if you do anything not OEM to the car, the warranty is basically useless.

- Is it more advantageous (price wise) to build your own new truck or purchase one that is already on the lot?

Thanks in advance guys, I'm very excited to be back into a truck soon!

J

I looked at a 2013 (yes 2013) Ecoscrew FX4 4x4 nav, leather, moonroof, etc
Msrp was. Shade over $50k.
I went in there and made an offer. I want to agree on a price before I start talking financing They came back with Ford MSRP minus ford Incentives which made it I think $47,500 and they wouldn't give me more than payoff on my current which by KBB I should have $6k in equity-so figure $3k to be real. They wouldn't come off the $47500 or give me more for the trade in. ITS A 2013 for crying out loud!!!!!!! Why would they not want to deal on it?
Geez, at least come to invoice and ford/dealer incentives.
Anyway. So that's my experience lately.

You should at least get to invoice. Some guys get lucky and dig into their holdback money but I never have been that lucky.

last month i got a 2013 (dealer demo) FX4 leveled with rims and tires. sticker was $49K and change, not including the level rims and tires. in total i estimated the total price to be close to $52K. i got it OTD for $42K and change. i've read on this forum that there are a few people who are getting better deals then that. but i would expect that for a '13, $10K off MSRP should be easy to do.
dont quote me but from what i've read (i know) the lift/level doesnt effect warranty unless the problem was caused by the modification. dont quote me, thats just what i've heard.

In May I took delivery of my '14 STX, the MSRP was $38,845, the dealer discount on the truck was $2,953 which brought me $200 below invoice. I got $3750 in rebates, plus another $1800 for my trade-in and another $750 trade in rebate bringing me to $29,592 before tax, title, and tags.

My OTD price here in PA was $31,684 for a '14 STX SCab Sport Package 201A 5.0 4x4

Thanks guys! If I was able to get 10k off MSRP that would be amazing. Would love to hear more people's experience and their discounts.

Bonus Question - what would be the best time of year to try and score a good deal off MSRP on a 2014? Would it be Sept? Right before the 2015 comes out?

Thanks again everyone!

Speak to the guys at evergreen ford in issaquah, WA. Not too far for you to travel from Portland. They are great to deal with (ask for Andrew or ken) and very upfront on pricing. They even show the discount make up on their website.

I did the whole deal by email/phone including my trade and got $10k off a fully loaded 14 FX4 EB 157,stickered at $52.5k. Would have got another $1k off if ihad financed. Seriously, I don't normally recommend dealers, as so many are just useless. These guys are straight up though. Refreshing, even if I do normally enjoy the battle to get salesmen to see sense. And of course winning!

For some reason WA seems to have the best discounts on the west coast .

Good deal on a 2014 would probably be right before or after the new ones come out. I got my 2013 last year in November, and on a $39K truck, I got it for $28.7K, and that's without my tradein.

Typically, Ford marks rebate offers quarterly....I bought my truck in Sept '13. Sticker was 47,270. Now, the dealer had the truck listed on their website as an internet price of about 40,440. Not bad, but we can do better. My sales guy, who sold me my previous truck in 2007, my mom an Escape in 04, and then another Escape in '13 gave me an even better deal. A few things to consider, let's assume your credit is good(it better be), since I. Was trading in a truck, got down payment assistance, and came with with some extra cash, the salesguy got me the truck for 38,800. But, this is how incentive, rebates, and customer cash works.....those offers are taxed, like it or not, they are. Remember, if you trade in, that amount is NOT taxed. I got 12,500 for my truck, plus trade in allowance, another $750 loyalty cash, etc....I financed 26,600, made one payment and refi'do with the local credit union. Since I had less than 5,000 miles, it was financed as a new car, and the adjusted market value wax 49,150 and a trade in value of 44,500. Which dropped my interest rate to 2.99% and my payment down by about $40. If you financial history is good, they can help and will if hey want to make the sale. If they can't give you the exact number you want, maybe a line x and some OEM rubber floormats can help the mats are probably on the parts shelf and it's easy to accommodate.
