Default exhaust sound help

got a magnaflow muffler installed today. it's not close to what i'm looking for. better than stock, of course, but sounds like there's a pillow over the speaker, so to speak....hopefully someone here will point me in the right direction.
i want that burbling, gurgling, throaty sound coming outa my truck. not super loud, necessarily, but more detailed...hope that makes sense...i've heard that sound somewhere, and it almost sounds like the engine is barely hangin' on, and like it's a living, breathing thing...
somebody help me! lol

Was it just a muffler replacement and what length muffler did you go with? It's sounds like your wanting a straight pipe.

Switch it to a 14 inch and remove the resonator. Sounds perfect.

With two cats its hard to get that deep rumble IMO. My muffeler is 8 inches long i think, and it is still very quiet, even conversations from the back seat under throttle are effortless.

yeah, we talked about that, but the guy said the resonator keeps the noise down in the cab...and he thought a 14 would be better, too...
listened to everything on youtube...

does the resonator allow only bass tones thru? does cutting it out give more detail to the sound? what are the benefits of a 14? guy said it was louder.

I have a flowmaster 10. It's still much quieter than my older truck with a flowmaster 40 on it. Has a nice rumble to it, but is not in any way loud - nor does it turn heads. Very little interior resonance under most conditions as well. Very happy with mine.

And where is the resonator? Was it part of the original muffler or attached to it? That stock muffler was HUGE.

resonator is before the muffler. do you have the resonator, or is it removed?
