Ok. I know you made the post about 5 years ago, but this is the muffler I'm looking at. I like hearing that there's no drone. do you mind giving any description as to how loud it is?

I'm 44 years old and would like just a bit of engine rumble when I step on the gas and minimal drone. I'm thinking about just deleting the muffler, I've read that it's a inexpensive alternative to a new exhaust system.

I'm really happy with my Banks Monster set up. No drone, just a deeper rumble at idle and sounds like a Porsche when I punch it. Got mine through Stage 3.

And I'm over 55...

I would recommend keeping the resonator if you do not want drone. The resonator tubing is 2.5" o.d. then it steps up to 2.75" going to the muffler then after the muffler it is 3". A 3" in, dual 2.5" out is what you would want. An exhaust shop shouldn't have an issue getting the 2.75" to work with a 3" inlet muffler. I would suggest staying away from a chambered style muffler like Flowmaster as they do drone more than the straight through styles like Magnaflow, Borla, etc.

We would also recommend keeping a rear muffler for the least amount of drone. Upgrading the stock resonator and muffler with quality aftermarket units is a great way to improve your trucks tone, and get more volume.

All I want is a nice sounding slight rumble with a dual outlet (left and right) for my 6.2. Everything is dual same side or rear. Don't want rear because I pull trailers every so often and do not want the sound bouncing back. Left and right exits available for other engines, just not the 6.2. Frustrating.

I have a Borla S-type catback system, single to DI/DO and exits behind passenger rear wheel for my 6.2. Its got good rumble, screams when I step on it and no drone. With resonator deleted. I love it! This is my second 6.2 with the Borla put on. I had the Roush cutback and it was nice too. Quite a bit louder than Borla and some drone. But was a beast! Next up some Long tubes! giddy up!

To clarify, OEM Raptor systems are interchangeable with other F150 series trucks having same wheelbase and muffler hanger points (other than headpipe diameter at y-catpipe joint specific to 6.2L). Individual components, however, are uniquely different dimensionally as described in my related 2014 thread and shown in another member's related thread.

I"m delighted with my good fortune to have found a fresh takeoff system while still available...

Leave the factory resonator in place and have the factory muffler replaced with a Dynomax VT. Trust me...it's perfect. Especially after it gets some miles on it.
