Default Exhaust??

Hey I'm looking to put an exhaust kit on my truck. I have a 2010 f150 XTR 5.4L. Not sure what to get axle back or cat back or even a good brand really. I'm looking for a nice throaty sound

Any good ideas or even a sound clip would be sweet!

Might as well go cat back. I installed MBRP- I'm content with it, but I'll likely look at something different next go round. It has a nice tone, pretty low, but since the 5.4 is such a lugger, it can drone a bit.
Watch your mid pipe size. Too much larger than OEM will really change your torque curve and your shift patterns will change a bit

Not sure if this will help but have you searched the 2004-2008 forum? There might be some useful information posted on that thread.

Check out the db Corsa. I have the cat back and am very happy with it. No drone, not obnoxiously loud and easy install.

I got it from autoanything.com for under $500 shipped.

Mines si/do. Set me back a little over 400 plus an hour or so rolling in the snow to install.
For what it's worth- looks good, sounds ok, but I think the si/so system would be my next choice.

On the highway it's actually pretty tame in the cab. Only get minor drone at about 1600. I have managed to quiet that down a lot by moving the tips out. Also- no back-rap! that was huge to me. I hate that bubble-snap when you let off the gas. Keeps an even tone all the way through. on the loud scale- i'd put it at 5/10. not obnoxious, but definitely throatier than OEM. The one biggest complaint I have is the fit. Wasn't as clean as I'd like. The shroud for the spare hits and I have found I'm going to either have to take it off or get it re-bent to make the tips even. Also, find a bracket of some sort to secure any of the wires/ lines on the drivers side if you go dual.

For the money spent- I'm not complaining. I have a sound clip on this forum some where of it. I intend to keep it until its fried

Hey Sgt, I have a 2010 w/5.4. All I did was cut off the factory muffler and weld in a 24in single in single out welded back to the factory pipe. Its not loud at all until you punch it, then it wakes up. 200 bucks and your done.
