Pricing Question on Ordered Truck

Pricing Question on Ordered Truck
I have seen on here and other forums that everyone is getting great deals on the 2010 F150s. I have also checked on Edmunds.com and you can get a truck priced for $42,000 for about $35,000 or so.
My question is whether the really great pricing applies to trucks you have to order from the manufacturer. If I want a certain truck with certain options, can I still get a great deal? I'd like to go in and offer say $35,000 for a truck that will need to be ordered.
Thanks!

I ordered mine and paid under invoice plus rebates. The only gamble is if the rebates change from the time you order to the time it comes in. Though the rebates haven't done anything but go up as the model year goes on.

yes u still can order and get all the rebates, just sign a deal on the price. Thats what i did with mine, agreed on a price signed by me and the dealership and said if they dont honor the rebates by the time the truck comes in then i guess they will have an extra truck on their lot.
Most dealerships will honor it because they know they would lose the sale lol

the only difference between ordering and buying off the lot is the wait time. the rebates "renew" on a monthly basis, and so can change in the time between your order and taking delivery of your truck.
The problem is the rebates have to be tied to a VIN number, which you won't have until the truck rolls off the line. you will usually have a VIN within 3 weeks of ordering, so you could potentially do the paperwork (pay for the truck) right after it's built, before taking delivery, and lock in the rebates. that's what my dealership here offered to do for me, but i decided i didn't want to pay for something i could see and test drive first. lucky for me the rebates stayed the same.
of course, you can always tell the dealership up front that if the rebates change drastically you don't want to be obligated to take delivery of the truck. then they will just put it on the lot and sell it normally.

(Mind you, this is in Canada)

you're right, it actually goes by the dealership. ford allows some dealerships to offer that choice (mostly smaller ones), while other dealerships cannot.
