Is everyone with a 5.0's flexplate exposed
Is everyone with a 5.0's flexplate exposed or am I missing the top half of my flexplate shield on my engine or transmission bell housing? I can literally see the flexplate in the thing but there is a small lower cover or access panel or whatever you want to call it.

Or go to your local dealer and ask. Find a junk yard with the same generation and see if you can pull one off.

The separator plate bolts to the back of the engine before mating it to the transmission. Yours is missing. Has the engine and/or trans. ever been out? Your inspection cover appears to have a clean upper edge as if it had been tucked up behind the sep. plate at one time. Either way, somebody messed up big, either on the assembly line or in a shop somewhere. The engine and trans. have to be split to install it.

Seems to me a fella could drop the lower inspection plate, remove the starter. Remove all bolts but one between engine and trans. Wedge the part up in there most of the way. Remove the last bolt, finish wedging it in, install that bold then all other bolts but What do I know? From the looks of the part it seems to use the same bolts as the engine to trans bolts.
