Default Ever see a chip like this?

Was in the bed of my truck this evening and seen this "chip" around my back glass. I have never hauled anything in this truck bigger then a load of groceries so no way it was something I have done. This is a 2012 with 12k miles on it, any ideas?

Weed eater/mower kick a rock? Looks like something impacted and cracked off a chip of paint. At least it did not impact your glass. My wife's old Mazda B series truck had a rock thrown from a weed eater by a yard maintenance company for the base I was stationed at. They had to pay for a brand new rear glass for her truck. Only thing I can think of that can damage a rear upper side of a truck. If it was the front side it could have been anything from a rock thrown from a tire to wildlife.

OR

Did you have something in the bed impact the back of your cab maybe?

Yeah I have had a rock hit the side of my Mustang one time from a mowing crew but sure didn't know this one was hit. This truck lives in the garage so had to have happened while it was parked elsewhere, bums me out either way.

Yeah bud you probably just were unfortunate to park it where a landscaper was doing his job poorly. I garage keep mine too so know how it feels. I have a nice rock impact dead center above my windshield and it was like "really..... I keep this thing in a garage out of the hail and elements and this happens." So I'm with you there.

Did you do anything to clean it? Only reason I'm asking is that it looks like someone tried to repair it before. To me it looks like more than the paint chipped and I swear I see putty that's been sanded. Looks like a bad repair job from the factory.

That's exactly what I had told my wife, looks like a ****ty repair job going bad. I have never touched the thing, just found it today. And now that you said that my wife reminded me when we first got this truck it had a bad spot on it there and they said they were going to replace the back glass and it seems they just tried to repair it.

Thank you for your reply

like if he went through a power wash and it took off the top coat over the putty? I kinda was thinking it had a sanded/scraped look to it the more I stared at it but didn't think about a shotty repair job. Would make sense
