EPAS. Steering Rack

Just had mine replaced two weeks ago on my 11 Eco - had approx 16K on the clock when replaced. Didn't realize how bad it was driving till they replaced it and now it drives way, way better. It does seem to have a little grit feeling just as you begin to turn the wheel, could simply be the tire tread feeling as it only does it while moving and has to be over about 35 mph or so. Not gonna worry about that, just happy with the way it is driving in comparison. Did go out today as suspension seemed a little weak on the passenger side front, looked under and I have a passenger front shock leaking - great, back to the dealer

Mine broke with 29k miles I think it was. Back in January. Took 27 days to get a new one put in. Came out one morning and tried to take off and the wheel was completely locked up is what led a flat bed to come bring it to the dealer for me lol.

How do know if it is broken or not? Might be a dumb question but oh well. Just wondering because ever since I had my shocks replaced with Bilstein 5100's, it clunks and rattles when hitting the slightest bumps.

I've tried to get mine replaced twice, at two different dealerships. First dealership couldn't replicate the problem, bs. Second dealership couldn't either but I showed the service writer the problem in a test drive.
The problem with the steering happens after making a turn and after the wheel returns to center. Ex: I slow down on the major thoroughfare and make a right turn. I plan to turn into the right most lane, but as the wheel is going back to center I turn the wheel left just past center to go into the left lane. Then I let go of the wheel expecting it to return back to center on its own, but the wheel stays turning left for ~5 seconds and then returns back to center.
Happens on left and right turns like clockwork. Dealership said they opened up what I think they called a "star case"with Ford. Ford responded that it was a normal characteristic of the EPAS system.
Did i mention that sometimes if I steer just a hair past center after it returns to center, the wheel will turn itself to about a quarter turn opposite center. Then return to center.

My rack started having this issue a week later after i installed my 5100s. It is NOT the shocks though. i had the rack replaced with the shocks on a my issue went away. This is how i ruled out the shock replacement. It just happened to start around the wrong time. My first rack clunked horribly, my second rack has been much better. About 7000k miles and i hardly ever feel it although the issue still presents itself sometimes. Its hit and miss untill ford fixes it.
