Default Engine shut off today while driving..

i almost had a heart attack when it happened and a lot of negativity was going through my head when it happened. i was on my way home from work. i turned right at an intersection accelerated then all the sudden i have no power wrench light comes on and engine shuts off... WTF HAPPENED!! i get out look underneath and i see no fluids so that's good. meanwhile cars are driving past me having to go around me since i am in the far left lane against the center divide on a busy street. cop pulls up and tells me he will send someone to help out, he couldn't help me since he had someone in the back of his car... lol. anyway. 2 minutes later a guy pulls up and offers to push, the truck was at a slight incline so that wasn't gonna happen. he was a US Marshall in an unmarked car so he turned his flashers on to divert traffic a bit. luckily i had just bought a tow strap a couple weeks before so i hook my truck up to his and he is able to pull me into a parking lot. so very thankful he was there to assist.

as soon as i pulled in i popped the hood to see what was wrong and just as i suspected the screws holding the MAF sensor to my S&B CAI fell out and the sensor was just hanging there. i didn't have any extra screws so i duct taped it back together.. cleared the DTC and the truck ran great after that. made it all the way home and even went to home depot to pick up some new screws. i learned from my mistake and put a couple dabs of loctite on the screws so that this doesn't happen again. i am very relieved it wasn't anything too major.

Great job , duct tape is a great tool to have with you.
My truck cut out on me today too, at 98mph. Time for a tuner.

yeah so many things were going through my head. is the engine toast? i wasnt freaking out too hard since i am still under the factory warranty, but i just didnt want to deal with the dealer. lol. im glad it was a very simple fix. i always keep a roll of duct tape and a bag of various sizes of zip ties just in case something like this ever happens.

Looks similar to a dealership fix lol jk glad your ok man I know the feeling. I have a 2012 f450 6.7 and when a exhaust sensor goes out it says stop safely now and shuts down all power but keeps the motor running so you have power steering and brakes but no throttle. Happened to me twice and I nearly died the first time it happened in rush hour traffic on interstate 5 here in cali.
