Engine Issue 2012 F150 Platinum
Hi All,
I have a 2012 F150 Platinum with a 6.2L engine and about 450,000 km on the clock. I recently changed the a/c compressor and so far, had no further issues. The other day I drove home to Abu Dhabi from Dubai when all of a sudden the truck started to rattle. When I put the foot off the accelerator pedal, it stopped, but when I started to speed up again, the issue continued. I drove slowly for about 5 km just to find a save spot to park the truck. Once I put the gear into parking (P), the engine turned off after about 30 seconds or so and never turned back on.
The battery works, starting the car with starter cables did not turn on the car. There were no signs of leaks etc. When turning the ignition key, there are no sounds like a click etc. When the car mechanic later tried to turn the engine manually, he couldn't. Save start also failed. The car is dead, but as I said, battery is fine.
I was now told that I need a new engine, which seems a bit far fetched to me.
Does anyone has a suggestion, experienced the same, or at least has a hint that I can tell the mechanic to look for? He is not a F150 specialist, I want to add.
