Engine cuts out on HWY, hard to start after gassing
First problem about 600 miles back was the truck was great, stopped for gas, filled it all the way up, then it wouldn't start. The starter ran-on, sometimes one could hear the motor catch, but the key would not turn back by itself, and when turned back it died. After a few rounds of this I eventually got it going. Started fine after that till next gas up.
While driving in very heavy traffic with the tunes on I hear a beep, and then another beep, and the oil sign. I didn't get the message, but the car kept going. On a few other occasions it has stopped dead, no restart, but when pulled over it starts easily. Most recently it died and when I tried to start it, it didn't start easily and did the thing described in the first paragraph.
I had run the battery down a few time recently, so we went through the battery relearning process, but the first time we did we weren't sure it was all OK, so we did it again. Not sure that will help. Online stuff mentioned cam sensor.
We were away from home but we are in the hood again and can take it to a mechanic if it isn't a simple thing.
Anyone have an idea?

We need to know what truck you have? Year, motor, miles ,etc. Fill out your sig line so we know.
Also, what tune do you have? Did you scan for codes? Did you remove the tune and see what happens?

Evap purge valve
the purge valve can cause this issue after filling up the tank. you can check it by disconnecting the vacuum line coming from the valve and going to the tank. See if the issue goes away:

F-150 2009, SFE, 2WD, 4.6L, 3V, V8. Don't have a reader, and don't know what you mean by tune, it is as it came from the factory in Dearborn.
Thanks for the hand.
I'd be interested in buying a reader, are there any that do an OK job if one is just using them a few times a lifetime?
There is nothing coming up on the truck display, and we did push the diagnostic for that.

I think he thought when you said "with the tunes on" meaning music....
He thought PCM tune. Very common for people to ask for help and not include spec or if they're running a tune. Some will go a page then say by the way I have a tune for (company x). All good.

what tcp2 said. had this same issue one day, hard to start after filling and it died on me on the hwy. Took to dealer and they replaced some sort of venting thing for the tank (since there is no filler cap). was prob what tcp2 is showing.

I have a 2010 F150 with 5.4L engine.
It's doing the exact same thing after fill ups the OP describe.
My question: where do I locate the purge valve?
