Today, I reset the mpg meter and drove 6 miles at a constant 50 mph. It was boring as heck, but my truck averaged 34.2 mpg. I was surprised, too. So, if you want good mpg's, drive slower and drive like you don't have brakes.

FWIW, my lifetime average is 20.2 with 25,000 miles.

Oh yea, and I run pure-gas nearly all the time.

Only driving 6 miles isn't far enough for an accurate reading.

I didn't see the rule that says you have to read everything posted.

This forum would be boring without mpg threads.... Traffic would decrease and all that would be left is plastidip, rims, tires, lifts, lowers, chrome haters, chrome lovers, bed liners, hid headlights, people bitching about hids, tuners, and bed caps....

I think it's the luck of the draw. I had a 2000 7700 5.4 with 3:73 in it . It would get 17mpg all day long with the cruise set at 80. A buddy of mine borrowed it to move his mom and got 20 mpg. at 70mph. Go figure??????

It takes FUEL (Gasoline/Diesel, etc.) to make POWER.

However, drive on flat roads (no hills/mountains or stops) at 55mph with cruise on and I bet you'll be happy with the results.

People don't realize they don't give MPG ratings in real world conditions. Has anyone ever bothered to read the fine print under the MPG rating? haha!
