Electric vacuum pump recall update 15N05
#81
I'm wondering if the failing of the vacuum pump will cause the inside front brake calipers to not disengage properly. Actually causing a problem with the master cylinder not disengaging the pistons.
I finally heard a little grinding in the front left wheel the last few weeks off and on. Yesterday and today it is constant and hard grinding. Finally got the front left wheel off. Low and behold, no pad left and the inside rotor looks like a Flintstone vinyl record. OUCH.

This brake drag is probably going to be the reason for my ****ty mileage over the last year. I didn't notice the drop in MPG until my long trip to FL last March. Thought replacing the plugs would make for an improvement since the gaps had doubled. That didn't make a difference.
I'm down to 14mpg in normal driving and a best of 19 in conditions that used to be good for 22.

The electric vacuum pump issue in Canada is no longer just a warranty extension.
It's a full blown recall. Got my notice in the mail dated June 08.Safety Recall 17S13

Can confirm. Full recall in Canada. I got my notice but it says no parts available and I will be notified when they are. Mine does make a bit of noise but no failure. I've been spraying silicone lube in the vacuum line every now and then. I also run a catch can so that is removing some if not all the contaminants from the intake.

Has anyone in Canada got their second letter saying parts are available? I'm still waiting. My pump is still operating with help of silicone sprays every couple of weeks.

All - I have a 2011 F150 Ecoboost and this past weekend I started to have this problem. Brakes are not there when start up, press pedal 4-5 times to get pressure back. Feels like brakes are falling off and makes noise. Take to dealer for service, sit overnight, they cannot replicate. I have the letter from Ford in hand (Feb 2016 15N05 notice). Called and opened case - want this documented.
If necessary, I will fix myself, at my cost. Cannot risk shaky brakes. Could be deadly.
For those of you who have had this issue - did you know it to be intermittent or consistent?
thanks

I went ahead and replaced my pump. It has been not working properly for awhile. I think my hubs did not have enough vacuum to disengage. I hooked up the new pump and everything is good now. I just bought a cheap Dorman pump on Amazon Warehouse Deals for $136. I figured it was worth the investment.

Finally got my second recall letter stating parts are available. My truck goes in Monday (26th). Lets see how long a 30 min job takes (New vacuum line and pump). Service advisor says 1/2 day!

Mine was done in 45 minutes.
Oh and now my vacuum pump comes on more than ever before. Like prob 4 or 5 times within the first 10- 15 min of driving cold.
