Default Electric Power Steering

I am having an issue with my EPS, when the engine compartment is warm I feel a rattling through the steering column (and even on the gas and brake pedals), I am also experiencing the steering sticking and not returning to center when taking sweeping turns, mostly left turns. I have found posts of others experiencing these issues but have not heard of any solutions. Dealer was no help. Is anyone able to direct me to a solution?

Wow, Ok.

This sounds like a ticking time bomb.

Did you have your truck in for diag before the eps failed? I really dont want to wait for the steering to fail, but I need to have something concrete to take to the dealer because they are never able to replicate the problem.

This was an issue on some of the 2011 trucks when the EPAS system first came out for them. Exactly as you describe. I'm pretty sure they did a detailed TSB about it and most ultimately had to have the entire rack replaced.

A rattling, felt in the steering wheel and the pedals over uneven pavement (I can hear it too). Only when its warm out. No problem in the winter. Same with the sticky left turn, only when its warm.

I read through one if the stickys that sounds like they are discussing a similar issue, but it was so long I couldnt really find if there was a resolution.

I think I will take it back to the dealer, does anyone have a reference # for the technical service bulletin?

Mine was noticeably vibrating/humming at low speeds, took it in and they said it was the EPAS and about $2,000 to replace. ASked them if I could drive it on a long trip, and they said yes. Am now in Oklahoma 4 months later, still vibrating and waiting for steering to give out. I did file a report/concern with NHTSB (is that the acronym?).
